Does it Pay to Pray?

Hey guys! It has been a while since you have heard of me, but the other day I was reading Why Pray (I will give you the authors name later, can't remember it now), and the very first 'day' was very good and I want to share the point of it with.

The title of it is "Does it Pay to Pray?" The author says that he is a pastor and he decided to hold a prayer time every morning. He writes that at first just about every pray was answered very quickly, but later it seemed as if God wasn't answering any more of their prayers. Soon, one of the men in the group comes up to him and asks 'does it pay to pray.' The pastor responds, "I guess it doesn't!" Well, he then writes that later he was thinking about it, and he said that if he could answer the man this day, he would say, "does it pay to talk to your wife? What do you talk to her for?" Meaning, if we just talk to God for our gain, what good does that do? We need to talk to Him expecting that His Will will be done, not for what seems good to us.

I would write more, but my time on theis library comp. is about up.

Thanks for sharing Nick! It is so important to pray, as I have been learning over the last few months.

It's interesting how things can get tiring or even downright boring if we do them over and over again. We need to have the right perspective of why we continue to pray.

It's not just to get something in return but praying is a means by which we can communicate to God himself. In order to know someone better we need to communicate with them. We need to talk to them and get a better understanding of their character.

Also, those who walk with the wise become wise but the companion of fools will suffer harm. When we talk with God and read about him in his Word we are walking with the only wise being in the universe.

Great post Nick! That book looks interesting. Sorry my comment is kind of long.

Amen! God always gives one of three answers to our prayers, "Yes," "No" or "Wait." I think the hardest of these to accept is "Wait." Because we hate to wait! But God knows what he is doing, so we gotta trust him.

Hey Guys!

Just wanted to let you know we aren't entirely dead yet. :) I hope to be posting soon!

I also wanted to take the time and suggest that you somehow watch a really good video by AiG (Answers in Genesis). It is only one in a 5 cycle series, but it does not have to be seen along with the rest of them. Anyways, it is called 'One Blood'. It deals with why we have so many different people groups and talks about racism. It is very good and I would urge you to watch it if you every have the chance.

Thanks!

Nick

And, in testimony of our desire, and assurance to be heard, we say, Amen.
